New pet hospital celebrates opening

Banfield Pet Hospital, a veterinary practice with more than 830 hospitals nationwide, will hold a grand opening at 9 a.m. today for its new location at 1821 E. Victory Drive.

Banfield will donate 20 percent of the facility’s opening weekend revenue to Friends of Animal Control Team Savannah (F.A.C.T.S.).

PetSmart and Banfield will co-host the event with refreshments and activities including contests, giveaways, “Ask-the-Vet” sessions and hospital tours.

The hospital will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Drop-off hours begin at 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday.

Staff veterinarians include Dr. Makeba Clarke, Dr. Melissa McKeage and Dr. Heather Trelease. For more information, go to www.banfield.com.

State Chamber chairman to address downtown group

Stephen S. Green, chairman of the board for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and secretary-treasurer of the Savannah Economic Development Authority, will speak to the Savannah Downtown Business Association Wednesday at the Charles H. Morris Center, 10 E. Broad St.

The event will be catered by Magnolia Grill Catering, and networking will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon.

The price is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Reservations required by Monday for discounted rates. All reservations must be made via the website at www.SavannahDBA.com.

Firms buy interest in Georgetown apartments

ATLANTA — The Carroll Organization, a privately-held real estate company focused on multifamily investment, management and development, has acquired a stake in The Trellis, a 264-unit, garden-style multifamily property in Georgetown

The transaction represents a recapitalization of the asset for Charter Development Co. Inc. of Auburn, Ala. The Trellis was completed in 2010.

“There is limited quality rental inventory in this desirable neighborhood and we feel that The Trellis is well positioned to benefit from strong demand as the local economy continues to rebound,” said M. Patrick Carroll.

Hilton Head Burgers & Brew sponsored by TD Bank

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Hilton Head Burgers & Brew Festival sponsored by TD Bank will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at Shelter Cove Park, 39 Shelter Cove Lane.

The entrance fee is $5; children 10 and under are free. Craft brew tasting in the beer garden will be served in a commemorative glass for $5 with one free sample. Event proceeds benefit the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association’s Children’s Scholarship Fund and the USCB Hospitality Program.
