Deemer Dana & Froehle LLP, has been named as one of the 2013 Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The annual list of “Best Accounting Firms” was created by Accounting Today and Best Companies Group.
This survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the accounting industry. The list is made up of a total of 100 companies, divided into three groups: 50 small-sized companies (15-49 employees), 45 medium-sized companies (50-249 employees) and 5 large-sized companies (more than 250 employees).

GAP hosts career day for students with autism
Autism Speaks, an autism and science advocacy organization, has joined with GAP retail stores, including the Savannah store at Oglethorpe Mall, to host a career day today to allow teens and young adults with autism to shadow a GAP employee.
The goal is to spotlight the need for businesses to offer more training and employment opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum.
Customers also can make monetary donations at the register with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Autism Speaks. Plus, the customer will receive a coupon for 25 percent off during a future visit.
Volunteers needed for Savannah Food & Wine Festival
The Savannah Food & Wine Festival is looking for volunteers to help with the week-long event Nov. 11-17.
Various volunteer positions are still available.
The festival also has been OK’d as a United Way of the Coastal Empire approved volunteer agency, which means Hands On Savannah volunteers and teams can earn United Way volunteer hours by working during the event.

International Paper awards grant to Second Harvest
Savannah Mill’s International Paper Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to Second Harvest Food Bank.
“With the unexpected expenses associated with Second Harvest having to replace their freezers, I am happy we are able to provide them with funding to help alleviate costs in other areas,” said communications manager Karen Bogans.
The grant will help provide 3,600 meals to low-income children, said Mary Jane Crouch, executive director at America’s Second Harvest.
