Former director of Savannah Film Services Jay Self has been named as head of corporate affairs for Medient Studios Inc.
The announcement was made Tuesday by Medient CEO Manu Kumaran at a meeting of the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority.
Medient is building a $90 million movie production and entertainment complex on 1,600 acres at Old River Road in Effingham County.
Self said he is very excited about the future Medient brings to Effingham and the state.
“I believe in the vision that Manu and his team have brought to our community,” Self said. “I’ve seen many of these visions come and go in the area. A lot of them had passion, a lot of them had innovative ideas, but none of them had everything. These guys have what it takes.”
Kumaran also introduced several other members of his team that have recently moved to this area.
Introduced were: Megan Murphy, vice president of operations; Victoria Foster, vice president of content development; Julio Saldarriaga, vice president of technology and Richard Leibowitz, president of trans-media.
Kumaran said the project is “pretty much” still on schedule and his team is ready.
“They are all keen to be here and get the show on the road.”
Self was dismissed from his job with the city of Savannah in September. He held the position since 1995.
