Junior League seeks applications for projects
The Junior League of Savannah is accepting applications for community projects and community assistance funds that will align with the organization’s focus on women and children.
Community assistance funds are awarded once a year in the spring. Partnerships and funding are available to all local 501(c)3 organizations within the focus area of women and children’s advocacy.

Pooler Chamber to hold annual luncheon
The Pooler Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will honor Pooler’s rookie firefighter of the year, firefighter of the year, rookie police officer of the year and police officer of the year at its annual meeting and awards luncheon.
The event, spponsored by The Coastal Bank, will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, at 11:30 a.m. at Savannah Quarters Golf Club, 8 Palladian Way.
The chamber also will honor the business of the year, ambassador of the year and outgoing board officers. Plus, new board directors will be elected.
Cost is $15 for chamber members and $18 for non-members if paid by Dec. 9. Add $10 per person after that date.

Savannah iDoctor hosts One Warm Coat Drive
Savannah iDoctor has announce it will holds its first One Warm Coat Drive to benefit the Old Savannah Mission.
One Warm Coat Drive is a nonprofit organization that organizes and supports coat drives across the country, and Savannah iDoctor is taking donations of winter coats, scarves, gloves from now until Dec. 20 at its office at 140 Johnny Mercer Blvd. on Wilmington Island.

Former soldier to address military educators
Jessica Lynch, a former soldier who was injured and captured by Iraqi soldiers, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Council of College and Military Educators’ (CCME) 2014 Professional Development Symposium on Feb. 11.
Lynch, who spent nine days in captivity before being rescued, will discuss overcoming difficult circumstances and going on to accomplish one’s goals.
When U.S. special forces rescued Lynch, it was the first successful POW rescue since World War II and the first ever of a female soldier.
