Wet Willie’s chain of daiquiri bars and full-service restaurants, headquartered in Savannah, donated $32,710 this week to the Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia Affiliate.
Wet Willie’s representatives Bill Dickinson, Emily Dickinson and Joe Ann Brandt awarded the check during a presentation at the at Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia office, 2250 E. Victory Dr., on Dec. 3.
“We’re proud to help raise awareness about the importance of joining the fight against breast cancer,” said Emily Dickinson, vice president and director of marketing and human resources at Wet Willie’s. “With one out of every eight women diagnosed with breast cancer, it’s essential we continue to support Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia and all the exceptional work they do on behalf of women fighting breast cancer in our community.”
The money was raised during a monthlong campaign that kicked off Oct. 11-13 at Wet Willie’s locations in Savannah and Tybee Island.
“As a local nonprofit that relies solely on local donations, support from businesses like Wet Willies is what enables us to fund thousands of free breast cancer services in our community, including mammograms, diagnostics and education programs,” said Beth Desloges, executive director at Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia Affiliate.
Wet Willie’s CEO Bill Dickinson praised the generosity of the restaurants’ customers and staff.
“Their support speaks volumes when understanding the magnitude of lives touched by breast cancer and how we can further help the pursuit of a cure,” Dickinson said.
