Gas prices drop in metro Savannah
Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have fallen 6.2 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.27 a gallon on Sunday. The national average has fallen 0.7 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.24, according to gasoline price website SavannahGasPrices.com.
Prices Sunday were 4.5 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 12.5 cents a gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 3.9 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 10.4 cents lower than a year ago.
Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy, said severe winter conditions across the country could lead to lower gas prices this week.
Tall ship invites charter sails
The Savannah Harbor Foundation and The World Ocean School have invited local business leaders to participate in Charter Sails aboard the Tall Ship Roseway, which will be in Savannah until Saturday.
The Savannah Harbor Foundation has generously agreed to match the cost of any charter up to $15,000, contributing to the educational programs on board the ship for local Savannah schools.
Two-hour cruises are $1,800. Businesses or families will receive a tour of the Savannah River on a historic tall ship and fund educational programming in the process.

Shopping center set for open house
Habersham Village Shopping Center, on Habersham Street between 61st and 63rd streets, will hold an open house from 6-9 p.m. Friday.
Merchants include Bar Food, Barberito’s, Bay Camera, Bella’s Italian Cafe, Bikram Yoga, Coffee Deli, David’s Dry Cleaners, Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Investments South, Hirano’s Japanese restaurant, Marco’s Pizza, Punch and Judy Children’s Boutique, Red and White Food Market, River Street Sweets, Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt, TailsSpin Pet Supplies and The 5 Spot Neighborhood Kitchen and Bar.
They will raise money and collect food for America’s Second Harvest food bank. TailsSpin will collect pet food for the Hospice Savannah’s Pet Peace of Mind.
Tiffani Taylor donates art to support Habitat Savannah
Savannah-based artist and gallery owner Tiffani Taylor is donating artwork to Habitat Savannah to sell to support the nonprofit’s work.
Habitat Savannah offers the prints through its Hope for the Holidays Campaign.
“What Habitat Savannah offers families in need is a way to leverage themselves out of generational poverty,” Taylor said.
Habitat Savannah has built or rehabilitated 124 houses since 1983.
