Nominate a business for year-end recognition

During the last week of December, the Savannah Morning News will profile companies and organizations that made major contributions to the local business environment 2013. The categories will be:

• Newcomer of the Year.

• Business Advocate of the Year.

• Comeback Business of the Year.

• Entrepreneurial Business of the Year.

• Manufacturer of the Year.

• Small Business of the Year.

• Retail Business of Year.

Auto club aids therapy program

The Savannah Regional Antique Automobile Club of America and Faith Equestrian Therapeutic Center in Guyton have gone together to buy a hydraulic lift as part of the center’s Horses for Heroes program.

The hydraulic lift will help wounded servicemen and women mount the center’s horses to continue their horseback therapy.

The automobile club raised $7,500 to help buy the $8,500 piece of equipment from Life Essentials of Brookston, Ind. Bill Begley, a salesman at Life Essentials, donated $1,000.

Donations for USO sought

The Small Business Assistance Corp., in partnership with the United Service Organization, is taking food and monetary items to welcome service men and women home.

Items requested include cash or checks payable to the USO; disposable cups for hot and cold drinks; plastic cutlery; paper plates and napkins; plastic sandwich and snack bags; computer supplies; fruit and pudding cups and canned food items. Donations may be dropped off at the SBAC office, 111 E. Liberty St., until end of day Friday.

Two networking events scheduled in Beaufort

BEAUFORT, S.C. — The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold two networking events this week, including a business after hours and coffee with colleagues.

Business after hours will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at Vaden of Beaufort, 103 Robert Smalls Parkway in Beaufort. Members are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys to be donated to Toys for Tots.

Coffee With Colleagues will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at Riverside at Belfair, 60 Oak Forest Road in Bluffton. This is a free networking opportunity for Chamber members.
