Volunteer slots open for ‘trading places’
Trading Places is a Savannah Jewish Federation program that provides volunteers from the Savannah Jewish Community to non-profit organizations on Christmas Day, giving non-Jewish employees the day off to celebrate with their families.
The program, which began more than 20 years ago, is part of the Savannah Jewish Community’s mission of Tikkun Olam — Repairing the World.
This year’s volunteers will give their time and energy to the Salvation Army, Humane Society, Union Mission and the Jewish Educational Alliance.
Trading Places is open to volunteers of all ages.
Volunteer positions can be arranged by contacting Jennifer Rich at 912-355-8111 or programming@savj.org.
Ford dealer seeks donations for children’s facility
HINESVILLE — Hinesville Ford is inviting the community to help “Fill up the Fords” for Gabriel’s House Ranch, which was founded in 2004 as a residential child care facility.
Founded to keep sibling groups together rather than in separate foster homes, the facility has served more than 500 children.
On Dec. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m., the community is encouraged to bring unwrapped gifts, household products, diapers, baby wipes or monetary donations to drop into the Fords located in the showroom. Refreshments, activities for children, tree decorating and a visit from Santa Claus will be included.
