Kroger customers contribute to ‘Can Hunger’

Savannah-area customers have contributed more than $43,100 to Kroger’s 2013 Can Hunger campaign to benefit America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.

From Nov. 17 through Dec. 24, Kroger customers bought $1, $3 and $5 icons with proceeds going to the local food bank.

Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes eleven store in the Savannah area, raised more than $642,700 to help food banks across Georgia, eastern Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina. The donated amount surpassed its $500,000 goal.

“We are extremely grateful to all of our customers and associates who generously contributed to the Can Hunger campaign,” said Glynn Jenkins, spokesman for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “Every donation goes a long way toward helping our friends and neighbors in the communities we serve.”
