Home Prices in Savannah Increase

In Savannah, home prices, including distressed sales, increased by 8.1 percent in November 2013 compared to November 2012, according to CoreLogic, a residential property information provider.

On a month-over-month basis, Savannah’s home prices, including distressed sales, decreased by 0.8 percent in November 2013 compared to October 2013.

Excluding distressed sales, year-over-year prices increased by 3.4 percent in November 2013 compared to November 2012. On a month-over-month basis, excluding distressed sales, the CoreLogic HPI indicates home prices decreased by 1.9 percent in November 2013 compared to October 2013.

Natonwide, CoreLogic reports that, year over year, home prices, including distressed sales, increased 11.8 percent in November 2013 compared to November 2012. This change represents the 21st consecutive monthly year-over-year increase in home prices nationally.

On a month-over-month basis, home prices nationwide, including distressed sales, increased by 0.1 percent in November 2013 compared to October 2013.*

New Pooler Goodwill complex set to open

Goodwill of the Coastal Empire, Inc. will open a new full-service complex Jan. 16 at 1115 Grand Central Boulevard in the Godley Station area of Pooler.

The 15,000-square-feet facility will house a full-scale retail center, a Job Connection Center and a donation drop-off center.

Grand opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a fashion show produced by community volunteer Ashley Borders. It will feature quality Goodwill apparel modeled by Savannah area business and community leaders.

Models will include, among others, Jenny Gentry of Wells Fargo Bank, Joe Marinelli of Visit Savannah, Interim Assistant Police Chief Terry Enoch, Joe Marchese, Marchese Construction and Molly Rowe of SCAD.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m.

A key component of the new facility is the Pooler Job Connection, which will be the ninth job connection in the region.

A Goodwill Job/Resource Fair is scheduled for opening day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with more than 15 employers scheduled to be on hand.

Tybee Island to host restaurant week

Tybee Island Restaurant Week 2014 has been scheduled for Jan. 17-16 to celebrate the island’s growing culinary scene.

During the week-long promotion, participating restaurants will feature a selection of multi-course menu options at fixed prices. The event does not require reservations, but they’re recommended if available at participating locations.

The cost is $15 for lunch or $25 or $30 for dinner plus tax, tips and beverages.
