HunterMaclean, Hughes Public Affairs to collaborate
HunterMaclean, a law firm with offices in Savannah and Brunswick, has launched a strategic alliance with Hughes Public Affairs, a lobbyist firm in Atlanta and Savannah.
HunterMaclean and Hughes Public Affairs will continue as independent firms but will collalborate to work with clients on complex legal, legislative and governmental issues.
“By pairing the governmental affairs expertise of Hughes Public Affairs with the extensive legal capabilities of HunterMaclean, we’re better able to respond to our clients’ multifaceted business needs,” said Frank S. Macgill, HunterMaclean’s managing partner.
Lee and Amy Hughes founded Hughes Public Affairs in 2003 and say they have worked with members of both political parties in all branches of government.
Habitat, Gulfstream to sponsor golf outing
For the 11th consecutive year, Habitat for Humanity Savannah is partnering with Gulfstream Aerospace to sponsor the Gulfstream–Habitat for Humanity Challenge golf tournament.
The tournament, which supports the expansion of affordable housing in Chatham County, is scheduled for Monday, April 7.
Through the tournament, Habitat Savannah and its partners have raised nearly $400,000 for a program that has built 10 homes housing 40 persons. As Chatham County’s poverty rate has risen to 28.6 percent, so has the number of households requiring affordable housing.

Downtown Savannah to host GnomeCon April 11-13
GnomeCon, a three-day convention created by Savannah area gamers, is slated for April 11-13, at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St,
This is the third year for the locally-organized event. Last year’s convention drew more than 500 people and helped raise more than $1,200 for Live Oak Public Libraries.
The science fiction/fantasy and gaming convention will host a variety of events designed to appeal to all ages, from puppet making workshops to the midnight viewing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
