Effective this week, new banners designed by Visit Savannah and influenced by social media are hanging on lamp posts throughout the Historic District and on Hutchinson Island.

For the first time, the banners include a new hashtag — #AskVisitSAV — which visitors can use on Twitter to inquire about all things regarding Savannah.

“The new hashtag #AskVisitSAV adds a new element to our social media efforts. This gives us another way to provide customer service to visitors and extend their experience and spending,” said Jeremy Harvey, vice president of marketing and communications at Visit Savannah.

The color scheme was chosen from the Visit Savannah branding campaign and the city’s official wayfinding of colors to catch visitors’ eyes and draw attention to the VisitSavannah.com website and #AskVisitSAV.

“The new banners have two important roles,” said Joseph Marinelli, Visit Savannah president. “They serve to welcome visitors to Savannah most importantly, and the new social media component will allow visitors to get real-time answers to inquiries on things to see and do as well.

“The reaction has been very positive so far.”
