Cathy Hill, vice president of Georgia Power’s Coastal Region, has presented Armstrong Atlantic State University president Linda M. Bleicken with a check for $25,000 to benefit the Armstrong Commitment Fund.
“Georgia Power is dedicated to being good stewards in our community and supporting education throughout the state of Georgia,” said Hill, who serves as immediate past chair of the Armstrong Foundation. “We believe today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders and are proud to support student achievement at Armstrong.”
The Armstrong Commitment Fund was established in April 2012 to offer gap funding for continuing students to cover the difference between what students can afford and the financial aid they receive.
The fund also provides financial counseling to foster fiscal responsibility to benefit students after graduation. In addition, recipients are encouraged to undertake service projects that allow them to “pay it forward” and give back to the community.
“Georgia Power’s generosity will help us fulfill our ongoing mission to support student success,” Bleicken said. “The Armstrong Commitment Fund supports academic achievement, helping students overcome financial obstacles that could hinder their ability to complete their undergraduate education.”
