New Goodwill job-finding center to open
On Friday, Feb. 7, Goodwill of the Coastal Empirewill open a Job Connections Center in remodeled space at its headquarters at 7220 Sallie Mood Drive.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., and tours of the new center will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A resource fair also will be held at the center during the tour hours.
The Job Connection Center will be Goodwill’s tenth site in the region. The center will help job seekers with leads to potential employment and other support.

Ribbon cutting scheduled for 19th Goodwill store
Goodwill of the Coastal Empire will open its 19th retail location at McAlpin Square, 1900 E. Victory Drive, on Feb. 13.
The doors will open with an official ribbon cutting on 3,200 square feet of retail space at 10 a.m. . Activities will include a raffle and giveaways throughout the day.
Goodwill will have an attended donation site at the McAlpin location on the north side of East Victory Drive, just east of Truman Parkway.

International Paper seeks applications for foundation grants
International Paper’s Savannah mill is accepting applications for the International Paper Foundation. The deadline to apply is March 14.
Nonprofit organizations engaged in the following areas are encouraged to apply: environmental education — outdoor classrooms; awareness of the environment with a hands-on approach; literacy — books, reading programs and tools to increase reading; and employee involvement — organizations for which IP employees volunteer. Applications can be submitted online at www.ipgiving.com.

Community summit will discuss shared agenda
Savannah’s Community Indicators Coalition will hold what’s being billed as a community summit March 1 in the Eckburg Auditorium at Savannah Technical College.
The coalition will present data gathered from recent neighborhood forums; discuss concerns shared by local citizens and says it will engage individuals in developing a shared agenda to improve community well-being.
United Way of the Coastal Empire, Inc. serves as the lead agency for the coalition in partnership with more than 18 local organizations.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon.
