Home prices in Savannah increase

Home prices, including distressed sales, increased by 9.6 percent in Savannah in December 2013 compared to December 2012, according to CoreLogic, a residential property information provider.

On a month-over-month basis, Savannah home prices, including distressed sales, increased by 1.7 percent in December 2013 compared to November 2013.

Excluding distressed sales, year-over-year prices increased by 5.7 percent in December 2013 compared to December 2012. On a month-over-month basis, excluding distressed sales, CoreLogic reported home prices increased by 0.5 percent in December 2013 compared to November 2013.

Nationwide, home prices nationwide, including distressed sales, increased 11 percent in December 2013 compared to December 2012. This represents the 22nd consecutive monthly year-over-year increase in home prices nationally.


Healthpac holds national meeting here

Healthpac Computer Systems, Inc., a 32-year-old national developer of medical billing software will hold its 10th annual user meeting Friday and Saturday at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Savannah.

More than 200 attendees are expected from 43 states and Bermuda.

Healthpac was founded in 1981 by B. D. “Buddy” Claborn, Jr. in Savannah, and nearly 10,000 health care providers use its suite of billing software solutions.

Medient to present at investor conference

Medient Studios, Inc. (OTCQB: MDNT) will present at the SeeThruEquity Winter Microcap Investor Conference today at the Convene in New York City.

SeeThruEquity is an equity research and corporate access firm focused on companies with less than $1 billion in market capitalization. The company is approved to contribute research to Thomson Reuters One (First Call), CapitalIQ, FactSet, Zacks and opt-in investors.

Award-winning wines named for festival

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival has announced 189 wines received medals at this year’s International Wine Competition Jan. 24-26 at The Hilton Head Island Beach and Tennis Resort.

The competition, in its 29th year, received a record number of entries.

Best of Show was awarded to the 2010 Alexander School Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley Vineyards; Bogle Vineyards’ 2012 Chardonnay received Best of Show White. The 2010 Trapiche Pinot Noir and 2011 Licia Albarino earned Best Value Wine honors.

Judges also awarded 140 silver, 32 gold, and 13 double gold medals. The list of winners is at www.hiltonheadwineandfood.com.

The award winners will be featured during the Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival March 10-15.
