Savannah ranked second most romantic city
According to readers of USA TODAY, Savannah is the second most romantic city in North America.
Savannah, which the writers referred to as ‘stately,’ finished behind St. Paul, Minn., in a USA TODAY 10Best readers’ survey.
The rest of the top 10 included: Victoria, British Columbia; Santa Fe, N.M.; New Orleans; Naples, Fla.; Bar Harbor, Maine; Mendocino, Calif.; Charleston, S.C.; and Honolulu.
Downtown business group schedules monthly luncheon
The Savannah Downtown Business Association (SDBA) will hold its monthly luncheon Feb. 12 with Suzanne Kirk, of Employee Development Strategies Inc., as the featured speaker.
The SDBA also will present its new slate of officers and board of directors for 2014. The luncheon will be held at The Charles H. Morris Center, 10 East Broad St., and will be catered by Magnolia Grill Catering.
Networking will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. The online price is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Noon on Feb. 10 is the deadline for discounted rates. All reservations must be made via www.SavannahDBA.com.
Job fair scheduled for military veterans, spouses
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host “Hiring Our Heroes – Savannah,” a job fair for veterans and military spouses on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
More than 30 employers are expected to participate in the event at the Savannah International Trade and Conventoin Center with jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience.
The event will include a free employment workshop that features one-on-one mentoring sessions on resume building, job search tools and interviewing techniques.
The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. with the job fair scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Interested job seekers should register at hiringourheroes.org. Walk-in job seekers are allowed, and veterans must provide proof of service.
