


The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia recognized five Savannah-area women Friday as Women of Distinction for their professional accomplishments and providing role models for girls.
The honorees included:
• Louisa Abbot, Chatham County Superior Court judge since October 2000, former president of the Savannah Bar Association and Georgia Bar Foundation and the first female president of the Rotary Club of Savannah.
• Catherine Argrow Cummings, educator of special needs children and 2015 Teacher of the Year at Bloomingdale Elementary School.
• Sherry Feathers, a Girl Scout troop leader for more than 40 years and a community volunteer for such programs as the American Diabetes Association, the YMCA and Susan G. Komen Foundation.
• Cathy Hill, Coastal Regional vice president of Georgia Power who demonstrates that women can excel in science and technology and become a leader in efforts to ensure that the next generation of high school and university students have opportunities to explore the sciences.
• Miriam Rittmeyer, a visionary in the public health field and executive director at Community Health Mission Inc. where she heads efforts to help the uninsured and underinsured receive medical help.
The presentations were made during a luncheon at the Charles H. Morris Center at Trustees Garden.
