LDSS announces new leaders
Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) announces Joe Marchese as the new president of the LDSS. Marchese is a founding member of LDSS and has been a member of the board since its inception in 2006. Attorney Harris Martin is a new board member.
Boy Scouts recognize leaders
The Coastal Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America recognized outstanding community leaders and volunteers at the annual Silver Beaver Banquet on Feb. 22.
The 2013 Commissioner’s Award was presented to Frank Patterson, while Lanny Rhodes received the President’s Award.
Four individuals received the distinguished ‘Silver Beaver’ award: Alan L. Stewart , Ray Perigard, Robert Missroon, Jr. and Thomas C. James, Sr. Two Venturing youth members were also recognized for their leadership during 2013, Hannah Horton with Venture Crew 1 and Andrew Martinez with Venture Crew 400.
Department chair selected for leadership academy
Wanda Lloyd, chair of the Mass Communications Department at Savannah State University, was selected for the Scripps Howard Academic Leadership Academy at Louisiana State University, June 1-5. A Savannah native, Lloyd joined Savannah State as department chair in July 2013 after a career in the media industry.
