Jamie Deen to emcee Night of Champions
Savannah restaurateur and TV personality Jamie Deen will emcee the Fifth Annual Night of Champions sponsored by the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) on Thursday, May 1, at the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort & Spa.
Deen, a member of the LDSS board, is an advocate for hiring those with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities.
“Being a champion of change for these wonderful differently-abled folks is very easy, actually. They are just like you and me, wanting to be accepted and longing to contribute in a real way by being excellent employees,” Deen said.
The 2014 Night of Champions includes the awards ceremony, a silent auction dinner and cash bar. Doors open at 6 p.m. and business attire is requested. Tickets are $25 or reserve a table for ten for $250. Tickets can be bought online at www.nightofchampions.org.
Savannah Technical College to salute Community STARS
The Savannah Technical College Foundation Community Council will host the 2014 Tribute to Community STARS at noon on Friday, March 28 in the Eckburg Auditorium, 5717 White Bluff Road. The event, now in its eighth year, honors more than 20 individuals nominated for their service and dedication at work or in the community while raising funds for the Savannah Tech Foundation scholarship fund.
The Savannah Technical College Foundation, founded in 1984, raises money to support the college and its students. It awards between $75,000 and $100,000 in privately-funded scholarships annually.
Tribute to the Community STARS is an annual event that not only helps recognize the members of the community but also serves as one of the leading events to help students fund their higher education. Tickets are $100. Proceeds from the tickets, as well as silent auction items produced by current students, will go to the STC Foundation.
Staffing firm wins ‘best of’ award
SelecSource, Inc., an Atlanta-based staffing agency with offices in Pooler and Vidalia, has been named as one of Inavero’s 2014 Best of Staffing Client Award winners.
The fifth annual best of staffing award was presented in partnership with CareerBuilder. Fewer than two percent of all staffing agencies in U.S. and Canada receive the award.
SelecSource, Inc. received satisfaction ratings of 9 or 10 out of 10 from their clients.
“It is an honor and privilege to be included in the top 2 percent of North America staffing firms for best of staffing client satisfaction,” said David Webb, president and CEO of SelecSource.
