Business in Savannah in brief

New shopping tour added to Savannah tourism scene

Beginning April 11, tourists and others will be offered a guided shopping tour through Savannah. ’Tiques Shopping Tour will include stops at shops that focus on delivering handcrafted goods, including chocolates, clothing, jewelry and other items.

“We realized that some of the best places to shop for uniquely Savannah items might be missed by a visitor,” said Stu Card, who co-owns the tour with his brother Donald. “So with the same approach as our food tours, we set out to create an experience that would show off the sometimes hidden shopping gems in Savannah.”

Donald Card said the tour is tailored for women who want to come to Savannah for a mother/daughter trip, girls’ getaway or bachelorette party.

Tours will begin April 11 and will be offered on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays starting at 12:30 p.m. The meeting point for ’Tiques will be at Chocolat by Adam Turoni, 323 W. Broughton St.

Herman Cain to speak at colon cancer benefit

Former presidential candidate and colon cancer survivor Herman Cain will speak at the WunderGlo Foundation’s local benefit, A Night of Wunder, on March 21 at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

The fundraiser, which will include dinner and dancing, is the first of its kind in Savannah. The nonprofit WunderGlo Foundation, which has raised funds for colon cancer research across the country, was spearheaded locally by Carlyle Dorroh, a Savannah resident and mother of three who was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in the fall of 2012.

The deadline to buy tickets — $125 each — for the 7 p.m. event is March 17. Admission includes dinner, dancing and entertainment by local band, Tell Scarlet. Tickets can be bought at www.stayclassy.org/anightofwunder or by calling Jennifer Wiggins at 912-220-7509.
