2012 sales surge at Palmetto Bluff

Bluffton, S.C. — Real estate sales at Palmetto Bluff topped $61 million during 2012, developer Crescent Resources LLC, has announced.

The 2012 sales results were the strongest since 2006 and represented 142 transactions community-wide, of which 115 were homesites and 27 were custom and new homes, said W. Bryan Byrne, broker-in-charge for Palmetto Bluff.

Gerrit Albert, Palmetto Bluff’s general manager, said buyers have embraced what he called Crescent Resources’ environmentally sensitive approach to land use and new homes are available “starting in the low to mid $600s.”

Byrne said 47 new homes are under construction and 23 are in the design review process. Plus, he said, new homesites are being developed to meet demand for the first time since 2008 and the firm, for the first time in its history, is using its own capital to build new homes.

Much of the credit for the real estate sales success, Byrne said, can be attributed to the Inn at Palmetto Bluff, an Auberge Resort has achieved high ratings by a number of national publications. He also attributed much of the 2012 success to Palmetto Bluff’s outreach to real estate brokers in nearby communities.

He said, “Compared to 2011, in 2012 we had a seven-fold increase in broker referrals from Bluffton, Beaufort, Hilton Head and Savannah.”
