DR. JULIA MIKELL

New job title: Director of quality performance

Company: St. Joseph’s/Candler

Duties: Mikell is responsible for the continuing development and effectiveness of process reliability, quality improvement teams, quality metrics and analytics, patient safety and clinical transformation. She will also provide education and consultation on system-based process redesign and measurement for medical staff, management, co-workers, senior leadership and the board of trustees as part of the quality improvement process.

Her responsibilities will also include providing a planned, systematic, organization-wide approach to identifying, designing, measuring, prioritizing and monitoring all quality management activities.

Related Experience: Mikell has been on the SJ/C medical staff since 1980 and has served in many leadership roles, including candler hospital board of trustees member, foundations board member, credentials committee chair, and candler hospital chief of staff.

Education: Mikell has a doctorate of medicine from the Medical College of Georgia and has completed an internal medicine Internship at the Medical University of South Carolina and a neurology residency at the Mayo Clinic.

LIZ LUBRANI

New job title: Outreach coordinator

Company: UGA/Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens

Duties: Lubrani will be responsible for developing outreach programs, public relations, social media and children’s education programs.

Related Experience: She served as events planner for Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens for the past two years developing special fundraising events, promoting the gardens and speaking to civic groups and garden clubs. She has more than ten years’ experience working in the non-profit field.

Education: Lubrani earned a bachelor of humanities from Penn State.

ANN HEINY

New job title: Director of first year experience

Company: Armstrong Atlantic State University

Duties: Heiny is responsible for the strategy and execution of cultivating positive relationships for first-year students at Armstrong.

Related Experience: Heiny served as department chair of Foundations of Success and interim dean at Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana.

Education: She earned a B.S. degree in psychology from Manchester College and a M.S. in marriage and family therapy from Indiana State University.

Meehan inducted into Financial Hall of Fame

Mark Meehan, an Allstate personal financial representative in Savannah, will be inducted into the Allstate Financial Hall of Fame. The honor recognizes Meehan’s commitment to helping customers plan for their insurance and financial needs and retirement savings goals.

Muller named Super Lawyer

Peter D. Muller has been named a Super Lawyer in the area of civil litigation defense since 2008. Muller is the managing partner of the Savannah office of Goodman, McGuffey, Lindsey & Johnson LLP concentrating in defending against tort suits and EEOC charges.

Armstrong’s Rodríguez earns ‘Women Who Rock’ award

The Global Women’s Summit presented Melody Rodríguez, director of the Hispanic Outreach and Leadership at Armstrong (HOLA) program and the College Access Mentoring Information and Outreach (CAMINO) program at Armstrong Atlantic State University, with a Women Who Rock Award. Rodríguez received the award at the Global Women’s Summit conference in Savannah on March 8.

STC honors Matthew Tuttle

Surgical technology student Matthew Tuttle has been selected as the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner for Savannah Technical College. GOAL honors outstanding students at each of the Technical College System of Georgia institutions. He will represent Savannah Tech at regional and statewide events to select a student to serve as the ambassador for technical education across the state. Tuttle, a Savannah native, is enrolled in the surgical technology program and expects to graduate this year.

GM honors Anderson with ‘Lifetime Achievement’

Martin NeSmith, president of NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC in Claxton and NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC of Jesup, announced that the company’s parts director, David Anderson, was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the General Motors (GM) Southeastern Region Wholesale Parts Summit in Nashville, Tenn. on January 23-25. GM awards one wholesale parts employee in the Southeast region each year.
