Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have risen 3.3 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.36 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah. The national average increased 2.6 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.50, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Prices Sunday were 25.1 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 7.5 cents a gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 15.5 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 15.1 cents lower than this day one year ago.
“While the rate that gasoline prices may slow nationally this week, I don’t yet believe we’ve seen the peak in prices,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “Refineries are in the middle of one of their two major yearly maintenance seasons, which means as refineries wrap up their work in April, we could see restarting issues, which could bring the spikes in gasoline prices we’re nearly accustom to seeing every spring.”
