Reed House receives gift from joined in giving
Reed House, Inc., a nonprofit mental health clubhouse that opened in Savannah in January 2013, recently received a $500 gift from Joined In Giving. Reed House serves more than 80 individuals whose lives have been impacted by serious mental illness. Mental health clubhouses help people whose lives have been disrupted by serious mental illness increase their abiity to work in a normal work environment.
A mental health clubhouse is deliberately understaffed because much of the work to operate the program is performed by the members themselves. They write the newsletter, perform administrative work and prepare lunch using restaurant protocols.
Reed House is the first mental health clubhouse in Georgia and is working toward accreditation with Clubhouse International, whose programs are listed on the U.S. Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices.
Joined in Giving is a nonprofit organization that votes monthly on a charity to support.
