Home prices up year over year in Savannah
Home prices in Savannah, including distressed sales, increased by 3.4 percent in February 2014 compared to February 2013, according to real estate reporting firm CoreLogic.
On a month-over-month basis, home prices, including distressed sales, decreased by 0.3 percent in February 2014 compared to January 2014, CoreLogic reported Tuesday in its February Home Price Index.
Excluding distressed sales, year-over-year prices increased by 2.8 percent in February 2014 compared to February 2013. On a month-over-month basis, excluding distressed sales, home prices increased by 0.2 percent in February 2014 compared to January 2014.
Nationally, home prices, including distressed sales, increased 12.2 percent in February 2014 compared to February 2013. This change represents 24 months of consecutive year-over-year increases in home prices.
Paper icons to be sold at Enmark stations to fight leukemia
Enmark Stations, Inc. will once again sell paper icons in all 59 of its retail stores in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk from May 1-31.
The paper icons, which can be personalized with the donor’s name, will be sold for $1 and will be displayed on surfaces inside the Enmark stations. The company wants to raise $75,000 in support of LLS’s mission to cure blood cancer and help patients and their families.
This is a $10,000 increase over the $65,000 Enmark customers raised last year.
Enmark Stations also will hold two full-service Fridays to raise funds for LLS when Enmark managers will be pumping gas for donations. They’ll take place from 4-6 p.m. on May 9 at 14000 Abercorn Expressway across from Savannah Mall and at 3219 Skidaway Road from 4-6 p.m. on May 23.

Tybee Island to host 2nd annual Tybee Rainbow Fest
The second annual Tybee Rainbow Fest, presented by GaySavannah.com, and GayTybeeIsland.com, will be held May 2-4 on Tybee Island.
“Tybee has always been very welcoming and supportive of the gay and lesbian community,” said Riley Sharpe, the event’s public relations director. “This year we’ll make history again with a first of its kind Tybee Rainbow Fest Parade.”
The parade will be held Saturday, May 3, and will feature a $300 prize for the best float.
