Local United Way gets four stars
United Way of the Coastal Empire has earned Charity Navigator’s highest level four-star rating for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability for the sixth consecutive year.
Only three percent of the charities evaluated by Charity Navigator have received at least six consecutive four-star evaluations.
Charity Navigator, an independent charity evaluator, evaluates the financial health and accountability and transparency of America’s largest charities.
Getting four stars indicates United Way adheres to good governance and other best practices and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.

Tybee Island Mix & Mingle business social Wednesday
Tybee Island Mix & Mingle will showcase the new grand ballroom and conference center at the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel, 1114 U.S. Highway 80, from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Chamber seeks nominations for business awards
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce is seeking submissions for its small business of the year awards.
The chamber will recognize small businesses and professionals with an expanded roster of awards.
The chamber has introduced a Young Professional Award, a Small Business of the Year Award with two size categories — fewer than 10 employees and those with 10 and up — and A Successful Startup of the Year Award.
The awards will be announced May 21 at noon at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort. Greg Parker, president and CEO of The Parker Cos. will be the featured speaker.
