Fed survey shows inflation of 1.9 percent
ATLANTA — Southeastern business executives expect to face a 1.9 percent inflation rate this year, according to a survey released Wednesday by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.
The executives questioned reported that what they buy for their businesses has risen 1.7 percent since this time last year. Over the next five to 10 years, they predict those costs will rise 2.7 percent annually.
However, they also expect their sales to increase just 2 percent between now and April 2015.
Just 52 percent of the executives categorized current sales as “normal” or better. Fortunately, 51 percent described their profit margins as improved, which compares to just 41 percent in the March survey.
