Related Experience: Proper was the executive director of Lumpkin County YMCA for two years and was the Lumpkin County parks and recreation director for six years in Dahlonega.
Education: Proper earned a Bachelor of Arts in parks and recreation administration from Savannah State University. He also received certication of public management from the University of Georgia.
CAPTAIN KYLE MACDANIEL
New job title: Harbourmaster
Company: Shelter Cove Marina
Duties: MacDaniel oversees all operations at Shelter Cove Marina, including charters; the Ship’s Store, the marina’s retail component; and slip rentals.
Related Experience: He owned and operated All Coast Marine LLC, which performed marine surveys and custom boat restoration and provided freelance captain work. He also served as the harbormaster for Loggerhead Club and Marina in Miami.
Education: MacDaniel studied ocean engineering at Florida Atlantic University and obtained his captain’s license in 2001. He also holds his dive instructor credentials.
Butler receives alumni medal
Donna Ratchford Butler has received the Distinguished Alumni Medal from the School of Environmental Design at the University of Georgia. Butler was honored during an Alumni Weekend in Athens on April 9. She has a career in real estate appraisal, specializing in historic properties, and currently is the director of the Harper Fowlkes House, a house museum in Savannah.
