Mud run raises $10K for Savannah charities
The Big Nasty Mud Run x5 on April 5 brought more than 1,200 competitors from as far away as Connecticut and raised $10,000 for local charities, according to organizers.
The 4.7-mile obstacle mud run was held at the Bloomingdale Big Nasty ATV Park and organized by Endurance Race Services Savannah, an organization that coordinates fundraising races for local charities.
Proceeds will be used to invest in youth programs, including local ROTC; the Grid Iron Group, which supports Richmond Hill High School football; Performance Initiatives, which serves inner-city kids; the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for National Ministry Outreach; Guardians of the Pink Ribbon — Savannah Chapter, which is part of a national organization of firefighters and other volunteers whose mission is to raise awareness about breast cancer; and Savannah Christian Church Missions.
Registration for the Big Nasty Mud Run x6 will soon be available at www.savannahraces.com along with other charitable race events.
