State agency to help recruit workers for Tybee firm

The Georgia Department of Labor will help Tybee Vacation Rentals recruit about 75 seasonal workers from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday at the island’s YMCA cafeteria, 204 Fifth St.

The company needs operations managers, skilled maintenance technicians, property inspectors, property care assistants, housekeeping professionals, linen processors and other workers.

Applicants for the operations manager positions should have a bachelor’s degree, while those applying for maintenance technicians and property inspectors should have a high school diploma or a General Education Diploma (GED).

Salaries depend on the types of jobs.

Financial adviser to address local group

Bruce Etherington, a 42-year member of the Million Dollar Round Table, a worldwide financial services educational organization, will be the speaker at a meeting of the Savannah branch of NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) on May 16 at Carey Hilliard’s Restaurant, 11111 Abercorn St,

Etherington also is a past chair and charter member of the Top of the Table.

The event will start at 9 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and it will end by 1 p.m.

New apartments to hold open house weekend

One West Victory, a new urban apartment community at the intersection of Victory Drive and Bull Street, will host an all-access open house weekend celebration today and Saturday. The open house will include food samplings from neighborhood eateries, music entertainment and property tours.

“We want to welcome the Savannah community and prospective residents to come out and get a first-hand look at our new residences and our recently refurbished historic buildings,” said Katharine Kelley, managing director at Jamestown, the project’s developer.

From 6-9 p.m. today, guests will get their first samplings from Hugh Acheson’s The Florence, the on-site restaurant and coffee shop.

From 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, visitors can see One West Victory’s state-of-the-art Amenities Center and view the Art Studio, relax in the media room, get a free bike inspection or take free yoga and kick-boxing classes. Complimentary refreshments, property tours and other activities will be offered throughout the day.
