Viracon expanding, creating 125 jobs
Viracon, one of North America’s largest architectural glass fabricators, will invest $2 million in its Statesboro facility to expand its operations and create 125 jobs, Gov. Nathan Deal announced Tuesday.
The 330,000-square-foot facility in Statesboro produces and fabricates architectural glass for major construction projects across the United States. The expansion will help the company meet expected growth in product demand, particularly growth in commercial construction activity along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
“On behalf of our employees, I would like to thank the city of Statesboro, Bulloch County and the state of Georgia for helping us grow our business in our Southeast plant,” said Bill Wright, Viracon’s vice president of U.S. operations.
“We believe that Viracon will continue to be a great success story for our communityk,” Nevil said.
Viracon is based in Owatonna, Minn., and has facilities in Statesboro, St. George, Utah, and Nazaré Paulista, Brazil.
KAPA Café On Bull to hold ribbon cutting
The Savannah Development and Renewal Authority will host a ribbon cutting for KAPA Café On Bull on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at 1514 Bull St.
KAPA Café On Bull, owned by Patty Carswell and Karla Mobley, is housed in the old Keller Dairy building. Carswell and Mobley say their fare consists of their two families’s favorites interspersed with years of experience of “just cooking”.
KAPA Café On Bull is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday –Friday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; 9:30 a.m. to2 p.m. Sunday.
Representatives from the city of Savannah, Savannah Development and Renewal Authority, Sanitation Outreach and Education Coordinator and the Savannah Downtown Business Association will be on hand fopr the ribbon cutting.

Chicken Salad Chick to open restaurant in Savannah
An Alabama-based restaurant chain, Chicken Salad Chick, has announced it will open a restaurant at 7400 Abercorn St, Suite 512.
“The city of Savannah certainly embodies the southern charm that we strive for in our restaurants, so we have been looking forward to bringing our concept here,” said Kevin Brown, president of Chicken Salad Chick.
The Savannah franchise, scheduled to open in August, is owned by Tim and Kelly Paslawski. They plan to open a second restaurant in Savannah as well as one in Hilton Head, S.C.
