United Community Bank donated $23,400 to charities throughout the Coastal Region, thanks to proceeds from its signature annual event — The Bankers Hour.

United Community Bank employees recently entertained more than 6,000 customers and friends at the 20th annual live production. The Rape Crisis Center was one of the nonprofits selected among the 20 communities served by United Community Bank in Georgia. Regional President Gene Gibson presented the Rape Crisis Center a check for $900. Additional proceeds included $430 from the local branch’s participation in RCC’s annual “Jeans 4 Justice” awareness campaign.

The Episcopal Church Women of St. Peter’s Church (Skidaway Island) hosted its third Market at 3 West Ridge, where vendors offered an array of merchandise. This year, the ECW selected two Savannah nonprofits to receive all of the event’s net proceeds, which amounted to a record-setting $35,000 for the two-day shopping extravaganza. The event co-chairs announced that the Rape Crisis Center and The Mediation Center were chosen because they needed funding for new and expanded programs, which directly target the growing issue of bullying. The nonprofits each received a check for $17,500.
