Former Medient CEO granted restraining order

A Nevada court has granted the ousted CEO of Medient Studios a restraining order against his former company and set a date for a preliminary injunction hearing.

The Washoe County Second Judicial District Court on Tuesday granted Manu Kumaran’s temporary restraining order and set the hearing date for 9:30 a.m. July 23. The order essentially puts a freeze on all of Medient’s activities for two weeks.

Kumaran is petitioning for a court-appointed receiver to dissolve the Effingham County entertainment company, whose board of directors fired him on June 9.

The company is headquartered in Georgia but was incorporated in Nevada.

Medient Studios has declined to comment on Kumaran’s suit as well as another lawsuit filed locally by a shareholder. A company spokeswoman said earlier this week that Medient plans to stay in business and continue with its plans to build a studioplex on land in Effingham County.

Kennickell buys new latex printer

The Kennickell Group, a 123-year-old Savannah-based printing company, has bought an HP 360 Latex printer, the latest device in high resolution digital printing technology.

The upgraded, redesigned model from HP is designed to produce a variety of products from posters to wall murals and bus wraps.

Al Kennickell, president of the Kennickell Group, said the purchase was driven mostly by the increasing demand for vehicle and bus wraps as well as high-end short run prints.

The printer is in full production at Kennickell’s facility on President Street.

Richmond Hill gets playful city designation

“We try to provide outdoor activities for children during events to make them more family friendly and provide something for everyone,” said Jennifer Sowell, zoning administrator for Richmond Hill.

This is the fifth time Richmond Hill has been recognized as a Playful City.
