The Stuff Store, owned by Alderman Tony Thomas, is scheduled to open today in Savannah Mall.

It really is a stuff store.

“We have it all,” said Thomas.

The Stuff Store has unique items, mostly antique furniture, from the 1700s to the 1970s, said Thomas.

According to Thomas, there is something new in his stores every day.

Thomas has a history as a collector of antique goods. His father was a collector, while Thomas’ first job was at Youmans Furniture Warehouse downtown.

“Our goal is to do affordable repurposing for items that people would usually keep in attics, basements or throw away,” said Thomas.

The Savannah Mall store will complement Thomas’ other Stuff Store at 12411 White Bluff Rd.

Thomas said he has plans for the White Bluff Road location to be a boutique and consignment store, while the Savannah Mall location will have a variety of goods.

“I think this store has a little something for everyone,” said Thomas. “This store will have something that each person who visits can use.”

In the end, Thomas, who was $1,000 over budget on Thursday and won a $1,000 scratch-off lottery ticket Friday morning, wants the store to be a fun place to shop.

“We’re meeting some people with great ideas,” said Thomas. “We’ve been working with people who want to bring in solar panels, to people who build and sell custom birdhouses. It’s an opportunity for individuals to showcase their items, as well.”

BREAKOUT

The Stuff Store in Savannah Mall is open mall hours, 10-9, Monday through Saturday, and 12-6 on Sunday, and will have a grand opening on August 4.
