Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah fell 5.3 cents a gallon last week to $3.42 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah. The national average fell 3.3 cents a gallon last week to $3.57, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Prices Sunday were 13.6 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 15.3 cents a gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 10.7 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 10.4 cents lower than a year ago.

“As expected, motorists continue to see average gasoline prices falling across much of the United States,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “Some states in the Great Lakes did see a price jump last week, and as crazy as it sounds, it was due to retail prices falling faster than wholesale prices, likely spurred on by intense competition as prices dropped.”

In all, 13 states saw average prices decline more than five cents a gallon. To see the complete list, visit http://media.gasbuddy.com/#BiggestMovers.
