Metro Savannah foreclosure rates decrease

Foreclosure rates in the Savannah metro area decreased for the month of May over the same period last year, according to CoreLogic, a real estate information firm.

Its data indicate the rate of Savannah area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 0.77 percent for May 2014, down 0.50 percentage points compared to May 2013 when the rate was 1.27 percent.

Foreclosure activity in Savannah was lower than the national foreclosure rate, which was 1.73 percent in May 2014.

Also in Savannah, the mortgage delinquency rate decreased.

In May 2014, 4.16 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent compared to 5.07 percent for the same period last year.

Region’s economic outlook to be discussed

Armstrong State University economics professor Michael Toma will discuss the economic outlook for Pooler and the Coastal Empire during a luncheon presented Aug. 19 by the Pooler Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Inc.

The luncheon, sponsored by Ameris Bank, will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn & Suites, 103 San Drive near Interstate 95 exit 102.

Toma heads the Center for Regional Analysis at Armstrong, which publishes the quarterly Coastal Empire Economic Monitor.

Nominations sought for TAG Excalibur Award

The Technology Association of Georgia is calling on tech or tech-enabled companies to apply for the 2014 Excalibur Award. TAG created this award in 2005 to recognize Georgia companies that demonstrate exemplary competency in utilizing technology to enhance their business.

Applications are encouraged from all industries and awards are granted based on several criteria pertaining to how a business used technology to gain competitive advantage.

Memorial Credit Union expands, relocates

Memorial Health Credit Union, a full-service credit union, has moved from the Medical Arts Shopping Center on Waters Avenue to 901 E. 65th St., one block west of Waters Avenue on the corner of 65th and Sutlive streets.

In addition to serving Memorial Health employees and their families, membership is open to all residents of Chatham County.

With the new location, the credit union offers a drive-through teller lane, a night deposit box and a new ATM at the front of the building.
