Heating, air conditioning firm opens office here
Bardi Mechanical, a commercial heating and air conditioning repair company based in Atlanta has opened an office in Savannah at 6205 Abercorn St., Suite 202.
A news release from Bardi said the new office will handle a variety of commercial heating and air conditioning projects, from hospitality to adult detention centers and all applications in between.
The Savannah office has just began a new hotel project in Charleston, S.C., and is helping with the construction of a geothermal training building at Fort Stewart, the company said.
“We want to be known as the HVAC company who does it right the first time, not just in Atlanta but in the Savannah area as well,” said Brian Baker, vice president of Bardi.

State of the port event set for September
The 2014 state of the port address, hosted by the Georgia Ports Authority and the Propeller Club of the United States-Port of Savannah, will be Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.
Curtis Foltz, executive director of the Georgia Ports Authority, will discuss the latest developments related to the ports.
A networking reception and coffee bar will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Tickets are $50 in advance or $55 at the door. Reserved tables of 10 are available for $500.

Web services firm to provide WordPress support
Southpoint Media, Inc., a regional web services firm, has launched GoWP as a WordPress support service.
The company says GoWP supports WordPress websites by offering automated software updates, regular onsite and offsite backups, security monitoring and help from WordPress experts.
“Most of the focus goes into building the website, but the ongoing maintenance after launch is neglected,” said GoWP founder Brad Morrison.

Nonprofit seeks nominations for workplace innovator award
Step Up Savannah will accept nominations for this year’s Workplace Innovator Award until Aug. 29.
The award, given annually, recognizes a business that understands the value of developing its lower-wage employees, those making $!2 an hour or less, and has development programs in place.
Nominations will be evaluated by a team of judges. The “2014 Workplace Innovator Nomination form” can be found on Step Up’s website, stepupsavannah.org, or call 912-232-6747 to request a copy of the nomination form.
