Savannah to host SBA symposium

The Small Business Administration, in conjunction with the Savannah Small Business Development Center and other local partners, will host a Many Faces One Dream event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Savannah Civic Center.

The all-inclusive symposium will cover topics including starting well, business plans, strategies for capacity, financing and federal certifications with an emphasis on the LGBT community.

The mission of the SBA is to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interest of small business by providing financial, contractual and business development assistance and advocating on their behalf within the government. To learn more and register for the event go to MFOD Savannah at http://sba.gov.

General Dynamics announces dividend

The board of directors of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) on Wednesday declared a regular quarterly dividend of 62 cents per share on the company’s common stock, payable November 14 to shareholders of record on October 10. General Dynamics is the parent company of Savannah-based Gulfstream Aerospace. More information about the company is available at www.generaldynamics.com.

Savannah Healthcare & Rehab changes operators

Signature HealthCARE assumed operations of Savannah Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, now called Signature HealthCARE of Savannah, on Aug. 1.

SHC of Savannah is a 120-bed rehabilitation center at 815 E. 63rd Street. The center offers skilled-nursing, occupational and speech therapies and other services.

Signature HealthCARE is a long-term care, rehabilitation and health care company based in Louisville, Ky., with more than 120 locations and 17,000 employees in 10 states.

A news release said Signature’s programming and culture will be integrated into SHC of Savannah, and the building is scheduled to undergo renovations.

“We’re proud to serve the people of Savannah and believe our new partnership with Signature will help us continue to advance the level of care we offer,” said local administrator/CEO Charles Hess. “I believe our residents and families will be pleased with the changes.”

Hilton Head Chamber finalist for award

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce has been selected as a finalist for the national Chamber of the Year award by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives.

The Hilton Head chamber is among five finalists for the award, which it won in 2000 and 2006. The chamber has also been a finalist in 2010 and 2012. The winner will be announced in Cincinnati on Aug. 13.

“It’s an honor to be among the five finalists for Chamber of the Year,” said chamber board chairman Tom Upshaw. “To be nominated is a reflection on the chamber’s success on behalf of its members and excellence demonstrated in all areas of operation.”
