Nursing home breaks ground in Baldwin County
Bostick Nursing Center, a new 280-bed geriatric care facility, broke ground Friday for a project expected to create 225 jobs in Baldwin County. The privately developed facility will primarily serve special populations with limited access to skilled nursing and intermediate care services.
The 16-acre nursing center, valued at more than $20 million, is being developed by CorrectHealth LLP, an Atlanta-based, physician-owned and operated company specializing in correctional health care in partnership with the Central State Hospital Local Redevelopment Authority.
This is the first private project at the former Central State Hospital Campus, which consists of 200 buildings and more than 2,000 acres of land.
The authority was created in 2012 to plan and execute the redevelopment of the Central State Hospital Campus in Milledgeville.
Support group raises cash for Children’s Hospital
The Next Generation raised more than $54,000 for The Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center with the organization’s first Summer Soirée.
The funds are earmarked to launch a three-year effort to buy a $275,000 neonatal intensive care ambulance for the hospital. The gala was held July 18 and served as the official kick-off for The Next Generation’s Angel Wings campaign.
“Surpassing our goal is an exciting start to our campaign, and although we have a long way to go, I know we will soon be delivering a brand new neonatal intensive care ambulance to The Children’s Hospital,” said Kimberly Pannell, president of The Next Generation.
Plans call for the Summer Soirée to become an annual event, and each year it will single out a patient family for special recognition.
