The USS Farragut, an Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer commissioned on June 10, 2006, spent the weekend at the Port of Savannah.
The Farragut is the fifth ship to be named in honor of the U.S. Navy’s first admiral, David Glasgow Farragut.
The Farragut arrived about 5 p.m. Friday and pulled out about 9:30 a.m. Monday.
On Saturday morning, about 18 crew members helped paint two houses on Auburn and West 52nd streets.
While the ship was berthed here, riverfront restaurants and bars offered special discounts to the 300-plus sailors who were in town.
