Dentist announces new X-ray technology

Dentist Angela Canfield has introduced the Planmeca ProMax to her practice, Premier Dental Designs in Rincon.

The unit is a complete imaging center for digital X-rays, which allows streaming of digital X-rays from tablet to computer.

Canfield said the machine produces less radiation than conventional X-ray technology.

“To give you a comparison, my machine emits less radiation than the amount a person would be exposed to walking outside or eating a banana,” she said.

The Planmeca ProMax machine also will be introduced to Canfield’s second location, Sandfly Family Dental, which will open in the Norwood Market in September.

Local stained glass artisan featured in magazine

Jon Erickson of Jon Erickson Studios, otherwise known as Aurora Stained Glass, was featured in the July/August copy of Glass Art magazine’s U.S. and Canadian editions.

The magazine reported: “Loose and spontaneous, Jon Erickson brings his skills with a personal touch and a modern eye to the ancient craft of stained glass. His work in opalescent glass — semi-opaque glass with integral color made famous by Louis Comfort Tiffany — is as breathtaking as his painted work.”

Samples of his work can be seen at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Chapel, the Jewish Educational Alliance and the Hospice Savannah Meditation Chapel.
