Gas prices ease downward in metro Savannah
Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have fallen 2.2 cents a gallon in the past week to $3.29 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.
The national average has fallen 1.3 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.43, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Prices Sunday were 15.0 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 9.0 cents a gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 10.3 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 10.5 cents lower than a year ago.
“With Labor Day right around the corner, most Americans will be seeing the lowest prices of the summer,” said
GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “And the good news doesn’t end there. The national average is at its lowest levels for this time of year since 2010, when prices averaged $2.65 a gallon nationally during Labor Day weekend.”
Exhibit at the 2014 Business Expo & Awards luncheon
The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for businesses to exhibit at its 2014 Business Expo & Awards luncheon on Oct. 9 at the Savannah Civic Center.
In partnership with the Savannah Morning News, the Chamber hosts the annual expo as an opportunity for companies to showcase products and services to professionals who live and work in the Savannah area.
The chamber will honor award recipients in the areas of small business, hospitality and industry during the seated luncheon.
Exhibitors have the choice of a table top, standard or corner booth.
Buying exhibition space includes tickets to attend the awards luncheon that includes networking and a seated lunch, tickets to the expo for the participant’s potential and current clients and drink tickets for the business connection portion of the Expo.

Hilton Head Island named ‘hospitality’ city
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Hilton Head Island was recently named South Carolina’s 2014 “Southern Hospitality City” by ConventionSouth magazine, according to the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce & Visitor and Convention Bureau.
ConventionSouth’s June issue featured the 2014 Hot Picks List, featuring one showcase city from 16 states in the South, voted on by ConventionSouth readers, social media fans and followers.
The island was recognized for its charming appearance, unique attractions and restaurants and welcoming spirit toward visitors. The destination will be highlighted in the annual August ConventionSouth directory issue.
ConventionSouth has a circulation of more than 18,000 national meeting professionals.
