Robmark Web, a Savannah-based website development company, has just launched the last of three websites they designed for Revlon Professional — Creme of Nature Straight From Eden, Roux Beauty and Lottabody — each of which were created for different lines of hair care products.
Lottabody.com was the last of the sites to go live, appearing online last week.
“It was a really great experience,” said Lisa Markowitz Kitchens, the president at Robmark Web’s parent company, Robertson & Markowitz Advertising and Public Relations, Inc. “And they’re international brands, so that was very exciting for us.”
The Straight From Eden website took about nine months of work, she said, six of which were just research and development – looking at national and international beauty competitors and deciding which direction to go.
“We looked at a lot of research before we put a flowchart or a feature list in place, before we ever started the design,” said Megan Alexa, Robmark’s director of web development.
Creme of Nature Straight From Eden presented unique challenges because it didn’t have the history the other lines did.
“The product did not exist prior to us working on it,” said Kitchens. “The branding and the website were being developed at the same time.”
Because there was no prior product, Robertson & Markowitz Advertising and Public Relations was presented with additional opportunities to help in different stages of development.
“We participated in the photo shoot, which took place in Jacksonville,” said Kitchens. “We did behind-the-scenes videos, and that was really exciting for us. We love participating in all aspects of the project.”
Unlike Straight from Eden, Roux Beauty had an established brand dating to the 1930s. The line was rebranded several times over the years — notably in the 1990s and 2000s — and Robmark Web’s team was able to help update its look while creating its new website.
“That was very exciting to really shift Roux down, give it this whole new modern look that was really targeted for the 40-plus woman to feel vibrant and youthful,” said Alexa.
Robmark’s team worked with brand managers at Revlon Professional and had weekly status calls to ensure the project’s progression.
“Robmark has been a great collaborative agency partner to Revlon Professional,” said Tuan Tu, director of marketing at Revlon Professional. “They have always met my expectations when it comes to delivering projects on time and on budget.”
It’s not their first time working together. Robertson & Markowitz worked with the Colomer Group before Revlon Professional bought the company in 2013.
“It’s been a long-term relationship,” said Kitchens. “But it’s a great working relationship; they know that we get their brands.”
When they began working with Colomer Group, they helped create packaging designs and promotional videos.
“We worked with them exclusively in graphic design and video production and, in some circumstances, public relations,” said Kitchens.
They had to outsource the programming until they created Robmark Interactive, now Robmark Web, in 2008.
“It really was a natural growth for us,” said Kitchens. “So we could handle everything turn key for clients, from the traditional advertising to branding, to media buying and then we went into the whole web development, social media, SEO.”
It gave them more control over the timelines and budget and allowed their designers to work more closely with the developers and programmers to create special features on websites.
“The style gallery on LottaBody is probably the latest fun feature,” said Alexa.
It features several photos of models with different hairstyles, all of which can be clicked on to open a short guide on how to achieve that look with the Lottabody Products. All of the sites also have a “Where to Buy” or “Store Locator” feature.
“Featureless websites are gone,” said Alexa. “Users are seeking out these dynamic websites and they really want to engage with the content in a unique way.”
