Walter Lewis is TIME dealer of year nominee
Walter Lewis of JC Lewis Ford in Savannah and JC Lewis Ford Lincoln in Statesboro has been selected as the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association’s nominee for the 2015 TIME Dealer of the Year award.
In its announcement, the dealers association said: “Lewis is a third-generation dealer, effectively continuing his family’s legacy of outstanding business judgment and quiet public service. JC Lewis Ford in Savannah has been in business for an impressive 102 years and has been recognized numerous times for its excellence in outstanding customer service.”
The announcement also applauded Lewis’ community involvements, which include the FCB Financial Corp. board, the trustees of St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System and JC Lewis Foundation and organizations such as the Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless, Savannah Tech Foundation and Bethesda Home for Boys.
Lewis’ father, J.C. Lewis, Jr., was a two-time winner of the award when it was called the Benjamin Franklin Quality Dealer of the Year Award presented by the Saturday Evening Post magazine.
Walter Lewis and other state nominees will attend the 2015 National Auto Dealers Association convention in San Francisco in January when the award winner will be announced.
Gas prices stable in metro Savannah
Average retail gasoline prices in Savannah have risen 0.7 cents per gallon in the past week to $3.32 a gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 262 gas outlets in Savannah.
The national average has increased 1.3 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.44, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Prices Sunday were 19.1 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are one cent a gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has decreased 2.2 cents a gallon during the last month and stands 13.7 cents lower than a year ago.
“We’re past the seventh inning stretch for what will be a short lived upward trend, and motorists will be seeing lower prices by late September in most areas across the country,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.
Curves clubs to host open house
Curves International will host an open house Sept. 15-21, with all four Savannah Curves clubs participating.
Daily activities will include healthy snacks, free protein shakes and mini facials and massages. Free workouts can also be scheduled by calling in advance. All activities are free and open to the public.
