The latest offering in World Trade Center Savannah’s ongoing international trade educational series is designed to help area businesses that export overseas, with tips to increase their company’s foreign sales while mitigating risks.
International Trade Finance, a four-hour seminar, will cover a wide range of basic to advanced international finance topics. The session will provide small- and medium-sized companies with the information they need to find foreign buyers, as well as increase and finance their export sales.
Speakers, including representatives from the U.S. Export Assistance Center, Export Import Bank of the United States, Small Business Administration, Small Business Development Center, SunTrust Bank and others will offer information, tools, resources and available trade products and services to help grow exports.
The forum is designed for companies that are currently exporting but need guidance to expand overseas markets and sales. It is also intended for companies engaged in global trade finance — CEOs, CFOs, company presidents, business owners and international sales staffs involved in selling overseas.
Topics will include:
• Finding new global markets and customers
• Identifying international payments transaction risks
• Utilizing letters of credit and documentary collections
• Obtaining protection against the risk of nonpayment
• Extending credit to foreign buyers
• Accessing vital working capital
• Understanding how to use government resources
“Not understanding the ins and outs of export finance can be a big barrier to businesses interested in expanding internationally,” said WTC vice president Brynn Grant.
