Georgia Southern among Newsweek’s top business schools

STATESBORO — The Georgia Southern University College of Business Administration was recently named one of Newsweek’s 12 Top Business Schools of 2014.

“It reflects the dedication and hard work of our faculty and staff, the increasing quality of our students and the impact of our alumni,” said Allen C. Amason, dean of the College of Business Administration.

Other college of business programs recognized by Newsweek were the UCLA Anderson School of Management, the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego, the Carlson School of Management- University of Minnesota and the SMU Cox School of Business.

iRepair Savannah opens location in Port Wentworth

A company that offers repairs on iPhones, iPads, smartphones, tablets and laptops, iRepair Savannah, has opened a second location at 7306 Ga. 21 in Port Wentworth in the Food Lion shopping plaza.

The Savannah outlet is at 1702 Bull St.

Wells Fargo donates $5,000 to Small Business Assistance Corp.

The Small Business Assistance Corporation (SBAC) received some good news in the mail recently.

A letter from Wells Fargo read, “We are proud to support Small Business Assistance Corp as you work toward achieving our shared goals in the community.”

Along with the note was a check for $5,000 for core operating expenses associated with SBAC’s small business lending programs.

The SBAC is a non-profit Community Development Financial Institution that promotes economic growth and offers alternative business loan products in the city of Savannah, southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina.


Creative Coast announces second speaker for Geekend conference

The Creative Coast has announced another keynote speaker for its 2014 Geekend Conference this fall. TechShop CEO Mark Hatch founded a chain of membership-based workshop and prototyping studios that provide makers, tinkerers, students, academics and entrepreneurs affordable, open access to a wide range of tools, equipment, resources and workspace to create new products and businesses.

Techshop has locations in six states, including three in California where it was founded. Hatch will discuss the impact of the maker movement revolution, sharing compelling and surprising stories of successes large and small, according to a press release.

Geekend, an interactive tech and design conference, will take place November 13-15 at locations around Savannah, featuring speakers, panels, workshops and networking events.

Creative Coast previously announced John Burke, a San Francisco-based venture capitalist, as its keynote speaker for the Friday, Nov. 14 session.
