City accepts electronic submittals for site permits

Beginning Oct. 1, the city of Savannah is accepting electronic submittals for site development permits. Information about the new process can be accessed at www.savannahga.gov/sitepermits.

With the new system, city staff expects to see shorter review times and be able to make clearer and more concise plan review comments directly on the submitted plans submitted. Kroger customers raise money for milk drive

ATLANTA — Customers in Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes eleven stores in the Savannah area, raised more than $112,000 during the Great American Milk Drive to support Feeding America from Sept. 7 - 27.

During the month-long “Pour it Forward” initiative, shoppers bought $1, $3 or $5 icon sat checkout to provide food banks the milk they need. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to local food pantries.

More than 50 million Americans lived in food insecure households last year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Ameris Bank locations collecting food during October

Ameris Bank announces its 5th Annual Helping Fight Hunger food drive initiative. During the month of October, members of the community are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items at local Ameris Bank locations.

Items collected at Ameris Bank’s Pooler and Godley Station locations will be donated to the Loaves & Fishes Interfaith Food Ministry.

“If we all give a little, we can make a difference for those who need it most,” said Savannah market president Austen Carroll.

‘Gently used’ professional clothing sought at Armstrong

The Office of Career Services at Armstrong State University is collecting gently used professional clothing, shoes and accessories for the Third Annual Clothing Closet on Feb. 18 and 19.

The Clothing Closet is a community-wide professional clothing drive that seeks donations of professional attire and provides Armstrong students the chance to receive one free professional outfit to prepare for interviews, internships and jobs.

Armstrong is asking for button-down shirts, men’s and women’s suits, skirts, slacks, blouses, shoes and accessories. Individuals may donate clothing to the Clothing Closet donation box located outside the Alumni Office in Burnett Hall, 11935 Abercorn St.
