Maritime After Hours set for Wednesday

Maritime after Hours, which is held the first Wednesday of each month for business people to come together in support of the maritime industry to network in a social environment, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Churchill’s Pub & Restaurant, 13-17 W. Bay St.

The event starts at 5:15 p.m.

Companies represented include: brokers & forwarders; steamship lines; warehouses; importers & exporters; financial institutions; real estate companies; trucking companies; GPA personnel; customs personnel; logistics companies/ 3PLs.

NuStar on ‘best to work for’ list

SAN ANTONIO — NuStar Energy L.P. (NYSE: NS), which operates an asphalt refinery at 7 Foundation Drive in Savannah, has announced that for the fifth year in a row, it made Fortune’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, coming in at number 38.

Some of the considerations in NuStar’s selection for the 100 Best honor include the company’s employee benefits plan, rated the best in its industry by Hewitt Associates; its reward and recognition programs; commitment to volunteerism and charitable giving; and special corporate culture.

NuStar, which has a voluntary turnover rate of only 3 percent and has never had a layoff, offers all-employee bonuses; a retirement savings plan that includes a 401(k) match of 100 percent up to 6 percent of pay and a company-funded retirement plan; company-paid health and welfare benefits that are 100 percent funded for employees and their families plus a health and wellness program.

Microsoft classes back at Coastal Georgia Center

Microsoft Office classes will begin next week at the Coastal Georgia Center to offer participants a chance to acquire new skills or hone existing ones. The classes include Word 1 and 2, Excel 1 and 2 and Powerpoint.

The registration fee for a single course is $85. For additional courses, the fee is $75 per course as long as registrations for all courses are completed at the same time.

Corporate rates of $75 per person per class are available for companies or organizations that enroll four or more students. All of the classes will be taught from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
