South University designated military friendly

South University has been named a 2015 Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs Magazine, marking the fourth year in a row the university has received the designation.

The designation recognizes colleges, universities and technical schools’ dedication to the success of military students in the classroom and after graduation.

South University assistance includes waiving admission fees for military and veteran affiliated students and the transfer of relevant course credits.

South also offers an active duty scholarship for eligible service members who serve on active duty or in one of the reserve components or the National Guard.

Restaurant to help Lowcounty Down Syndrome Society

A new Savannah restaurant, Chicken Salad Chick, 7400 Abercorn St., will donate 10 percent of its net proceeds to the Lowcounty Down Syndrome Society each Monday in October.

Franchise owners Tim and Kelly Paslawski said they chose the LDSS because a close friend, Lisa Chapman, has a daughter with down syndrome.

“Lisa and her family have been big-time supporters of Chicken Salad Chick,” said Tim Paslawski, “and when given the opportunity to impact something that directly affects their lives, we felt it was a great fit.”

The restaurant is the first of two for the Paslawskis in Savannah, with a third planned for Hilton Head Island, SC.
