Rivers & Glen Trading Co. to hold grand opening
Rivers & Glen Trading Co. will hold a grand opening Friday for its new store at 24 Drayton St.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in front of the store at 5:15 p.m., with the ribbon made out of fly fishing line. Hors d’oeuvres will follow, catered by The Olde Pink House.
“I love the coastal Georgia region, and the marshes and rivers around this area align perfectly with our brand,” said owner Walker Hopkins.
Ben Austin of the Orvis Corp. will host a fly fishing casting demonstration at noon in conjunction with the grand opening.

SBAC accepting nominations for award
The Small Business Assistance Corp. (SBAC) is accepting nominations for the T McCoy Cornerstone Award, which is presented to a person achieving the highest level of excellence as an administrative professional.
The winner will receive a plaque and $500 at SBAC’s 23rd annual Luncheon and Awards Ceremony on Dec. 3.
The award is in honor of Terry McCoy, who managed SBAC’s administrative responsibilities for 16 years.

Fred, Dinah Gretsch receive Governor’s Award
Fred and Dinah Gretsch — president and CFO, respectively, of the Savannah-based Gretsch Co. — received the third annual Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities on Oct. 7.
Gov. Nathan Deal presented the award, which recognized the Gretsches for their contributions to Georgia’s civic and cultural vitality through service to the humanities or excellence in the arts.
“We are very humbled, and grateful that we are able to do this for the music industry,” said Dinah Gretsch.
Badcock to locate new distribution center in LaGrange
W.S. Badcock Corp., one of the largest privately held furniture retailers in the U.S., will build a new regional distribution center in LaGrange, investing $22 million and employing more than 100 people.
The 535,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2015. The project will include enhanced energy efficiency technologies and is designed for expansion to 700,000 square feet. It will replace existing facilities in Thomson and Cullman, Ala.
“This is a significant project for our company, and we are delighted to make this investment here and become an integral part of LaGrange and Troup County,” said W.S. Badcock President Mike Price.
